My Chemistry Adventure!
I really don't mind chemistry. Everyone always makes it out to be this nightmare of a class, but I don't find it too strenuous; probably because my teacher is pretty good at what he does. (Even if it means crude, sometimes very inappropriate examples to help us understand.) Anyways. We were doing a lab with bunsen burners and all the girls in my group were too afraid to light the match--you must understand that these matches were really stupid and to get some good friction you had to hold it way close to your thumb, therefore burning your thumb a little. So I volunteered, endured the "burn" which only felt a little sting-y, and then put it over the burner that was releasing the gas. However, we did not realize our gas was on high, so the flame shot up about a foot in the air and singed my hair. It was really funny! It was just my bangs and so the little guys coiled up in these crusty curls. It looked and felt like the weird pot filling of an indoor tree. I patted it down with water and it looked really normal considering. Don't worry, I still have all my hair, I just have these little gray pokeys that you can only see close up.

Hahahaha. That's amazing. Isn't Don Bastian your teacher?
ReplyDeleteYep! Good ol' Bastian; he'll never make it through a class without insulting someone. :D How do you know him again?
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh. I burned hair once, too...only, the hair in question didn't belong to me...so...yeah... let's not even go there.
ReplyDeleteHe used to teach chemistry at AF, he was the advisor for my friend's national award winning science fair project, and my friend Haylee taught a lab class with him.
